Covid-19 Arrangements - Jessie Mac's
We have carried out a detailed risk assessment for both guests and staff – our priority is to keep everybody safe. We have a number of new systems in place as outlined below:
BOOKINGS:
Fewer guests – we will carefully balance bookings to keep guest numbers low enough to let you use public areas such as the dining room, lounge and kitchens safely.
Advance booking – we need to know who is staying with us in advance so that we can carefully balance numbers of guests and rooms. This is to ensure that you have the space that you need to enjoy your stay safely and comfortably. We can only take bookings made in advance -please help us by contacting us as far in advance as possible.
2 night minimum stay – this is due to the level of deep cleaning that each room requires.
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Check in arrangements - You will receive a message from us a week before your arrival. This will contain any updated guidance. It will also contain a key code. You will require this 4-digit code to access your keys which will be in a key box labelled with your room name. Both keys and key box will be disinfected before your arrival.
Payment – we hope to minimise face to face payment as much as possible. If you have booked online, then we should be able to take the balance of payment from the details you provided. If you booked by phone or e-mail then you can pay by card over the phone or we can send you our account details so you can pay by direct transfer. We can take contactless payment on the premises up to £45 if necessary. Please do not pay by cash unless there is no other option.
Contact details – it looks like we will have to hold your contact details for 28 days after your stay here in case they are required for tracing purposes. We will therefore require the name, address and a phone number for one member of each household in your booking. If we do not already hold these from your booking then please email us them before your arrival. We will not use these details for any purpose other than contact tracing if required.
DURING YOUR STAY
Face masks - at present, face coverings are mandatory on public transport, and in shops and enclosed spaces. We ask guests to bring a supply of face coverings with you and to wear them in public areas of our building. You’ll see our staff wearing them at all times.
Check in and check out times - in order for us to have the time necessary to clean thoroughly we ask kindly that guests do not check in before 4pm. When you check out please leave a window open in your room if possible and kindly vacate your room by 9.30am. Please leave your keys in the key drop container which will be at the foot of the staircase by the door.
Hygiene - there will be hand sanitiser at the entrance / exit, in your room and at other points in the building. Please use this but kindly do not remove the bottles from their location. Please be assured that the rooms will be cleaned thoroughly between sets of guests. We have had to take some of the soft furnishings out of the rooms but blankets, and extra towels and pillows are available on request. Information will be on laminated sheets in your room and elsewhere in the hostel about where you can eat out and how to contact us or seek medical assistance etc. We will not enter your room while you are staying with us. If you require anything we will leave it outside your room door. Please dispose of any PPE and other non-recyclable rubbish in the covered bin in your room.
Self catering basis only - we will be operating on a self-catering basis only for the foreseeable future so we will not be providing breakfast – sorry! The Post Office café near us provides cooked breakfasts and breakfast rolls from 8am.
Kitchen space – we have a large, well equipped guest kitchen. We are also giving our catering kitchen space over to guests to use. We have 2 large fridges and 3 small ones which will be shared amongst guests on a strict basis. We anticipate a time share system to allow guests to share kitchen spaces safely.
Public spaces - guests will still be able to use the communal areas, although you may have to observe time slots for using the kitchens and dining room – both to allow other guests to use them and us to clean them. Cleaning and anti-virus disinfectant sprays will be available for guests to use. In the dining room tables will be spaced out to conform to Government guidelines. We will ask guests to work together to share spaces We will have to remove toys and games from the lounge so if you are bringing children please bring a good supply of things to keep them amused! We will be reducing our capacity so there won’t be a lot of other guests around but please be mindful that you probably won’t be the only guests and take care accordingly when moving around the building. Please especially keep control of any children not old enough to grasp the concept of social distancing!
We hope you enjoy your stay – although you might not see much of us on the premises we will be nearby to answer any questions you may have and we will ensure that you have a mobile number to contact us. If you need to cancel your booking due to Covid-19 related circumstances, please let us know as soon as possible. We can either transfer any deposit to a future date or refund it to you. Kind regards,
